GEORGE GARDINER

 Research Help Wanted

Campbell River, we need your help.
In 1952, the Cenotaph was placed downtown to honour veterans that had died during World War I and II. In 1962, a plaque listed the names of our fallen soldiers that lived in this area. Some were from Cortez, Quadra, Rock Bay, Sayward as well as Campbell River.

The Campbell River Genealogy Society recognizes these soldiers every year in November by placing flags in our cemeteries.

Over the years, the volunteers have gathered information on each of the World War I veterans except for one. His name is George Gardiner. He would have died between 1914-1922.

The volunteers have contacted many resources without success. Using their knowledge and searching through databases such as Voters Lists, Census records, Library Archives of Canada, Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry Museum & Archives, BC Archives, Ancestry records, newspapers, and many others. We have also tried different spelling of the name. The City of Campbell River and the local Legion do not have any information on the fallen soldiers.

Regrettably, we do not know when George Gardiner died, where he is from, or any of his relatives.
We are appealing to the public for your help. Do you have a parent, grandparent, friend, or neighbor that has some sort of information or documentation to help in this search for the allusive George Gardiner identifying him?
